End of Microsoft Support for Windows 10: October 2025

Published on: 6/2/25, 11:52 AM

On the 14th of October 2025, Microsoft will cease support for Windows 10.

What does this mean for you and your school?

In summary, Microsoft will no longer issue software updates, security updates, or fixes, and will no longer offer technical support.

Don’t panic, your Windows 10 devices will still continue to work and function after the October deadline, however, without those crucial security updates they’ll be more vulnerable to viruses and malware.

So, what are your options?

  • Replace Windows 10 devices.

  • Upgrade the operating system on devices to Windows 11 (devices need to meet the minimum spec and have a TPM chip, this might also involve a hard drive upgrade and additional RAM).

  • Pay an annual subscription to Microsoft for continued support (although not advised due to the level of annual cost per device (see link for more details at the end of this article).

  • Continue to use the Windows 10 devices until you are able to replace them.

Our advice:

To keep school devices, data, and networks secure, it’s important to replace devices as soon as possible. iCT4 can provide detailed costing and/or can help you to put a plan in place for OS upgrading and device replacement over time.
