Case Study: Full Lifecycle Delivery

Our case studies showcase how important partnership is to us as well as the transformative impact of technology on teaching and learning.

iCT4 worked with Kernow Learning
during the pre-opening stage of
this flagship free school project
to deliver a complete design and
implementation project for the 2
story primary school in St Austell.

Introduction

As Kernow Learning’s trusted technology partner, iCT4 has played a key role in the multipartner free school project since the early part of 2021. From the outset, the collaboration between Kernow Learning, the Department for
Education (DfE), and other partners (Eden Project, Cornwall Council, Ecobos, Reds10, West Carclaze Garden Village) has involved navigating the complex capital build challenges while staying true to the project’s unique educational vision to create Sky Primary and Eden Project Nursery.

Following a formal tendering process led by the DfE, iCT4 was subcontracted by XMA, an established IT solutions provider for businesses and public sector organisations, to advise the project team and deliver tailored technology
solutions.

The specification for Sky Primary and Eden Project Nursery

The contract included several innovative “added value” components designed to enhance both learning outcomes and environmental awareness. One example is the installation of external Wi-Fi access points, enabling outdoor learning opportunities across the curriculum and supporting a more flexible, nature-connected educational experience.

iCT4 provided strategic guidance on future proofing the technology so that it can be scaled as the school increases capacity to accommodate the growing Garden Village community.

iCT4 continues to provide long-term support and consultancy to the school, enhancing and adapting tools and infrastructure to support the DfE digital and technology standards. Support closing the digital divide is particularly important with this school as it is located in an economically disadvantaged area.

"The support and guidance we received while setting up the infrastructure for our new Primary and Nursery School were invaluable. We had complete confidence in the ICT4 team, who worked seamlessly with one of the DfE’s approved ICT framework providers to deliver a tailored technology solution that complements our nature-inspired approach to learning. The installation of wireless access points to reach our outdoor spaces has been instrumental in helping us create a rich, immersive learning environment for our children."

The impact on teaching and learning

In the next 12 months the school will be testing out the internet connectivity and network infrastructure which will enable the school to deliver it’s global citizenship and sustainability goals, as well as a commitment to outdoor learning and enrichment.
